Nuh: The central government has granted multiple railway projects to Haryana in the latest railway budget. The state has received ₹15,875 crores for new infrastructure projects.
Following the budget announcement, there was growing anticipation that the stalled railway project in Nuh would resume soon.
Now, the Chief Minister has approved the project, which will establish a railway line from Delhi to Ferozepur. The residents of Nuh are overjoyed with this decision.
At present, work is underway on nine railway projects across Haryana. However, the Delhi-Sohna-Nuh-Firozpur Jhirka-Alwar railway project was yet to commence.
On Monday, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced multiple new railway initiatives for Haryana.
With the state receiving a significant budget allocation for railway development, hopes were rekindled that the long-pending projects would finally be executed.
Following this, the Chief Minister confirmed in a press conference that new railway lines will be laid across Haryana, including the Delhi-Sohna-Nuh-Firozpur Jhirka-Alwar railway line.
A Long-Awaited Project
In 2011, a railway survey was conducted, and a proposal was sent to lay down a railway line in the region. The government included it in upcoming projects, but the lack of execution led to frequent demands from the people of Mewat.
The residents had anticipated that the railway project would be part of the Union Budget, and a report published in Amar Ujala on February 1 had predicted a positive outcome for Nuh.
With the official confirmation of the railway project, an atmosphere of celebration has spread among the locals.
Issue Raised in Parliament
The demand for a railway line in Mewat has been raised twice in Parliament. In December 2024, Bhiwani-Mahendragarh MP Dharambir Singh highlighted the absence of a railway network in the region.
Since then, discussions regarding the commencement of the railway project had been ongoing.
Now, with the inclusion of this project in Haryana’s railway expansion plans, a wave of happiness has swept across the state.
Half the Population Has Never Seen a Train
The demand for a railway line in Mewat has existed for a long time. Many elderly and even young people in the region have never traveled by train.
Locals claim that they have never even seen a train passing through their district.
Additionally, Mewat’s transport system is highly underdeveloped—most bus services stop operating after 5 PM, causing significant inconvenience to the people.

“The central government should have started the project much earlier. However, the fact that work will finally begin is a positive step. We welcome this decision.”
