Gurgaon Time News: Eighteen metro stations along the Old Gurugram Metro route will soon have picnic spots nearby. Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL) has included 18 out of 27 proposed stations on the Old Gurugram Metro route in a special category. These stations will be surrounded by parks, green areas, parking spaces, ponds, rainwater drains, and commercial colonies. Additionally, cultural centers will be developed in these areas.
The design of these metro stations will be inspired by the picnic spots near metro stations in Bangalore and Mumbai. To finalize the station alignment and design, GMRL has selected a Detailed Design Consultant (DDC) company. Due to the election code of conduct, GMRL will seek approval from the Election Commission to award the tender to this company.
Certain stations like Sector 47, Subhash Chowk, Sector 72A, and Basai Village have been placed in a special category. These locations are expected to see high footfall. For example, a commercial colony by IKEA is being developed near Bakhtawar Chowk in Sector 47. Subhash Chowk on Gurugram-Sohna Road faces heavy traffic because of nearby shopping malls. Sector 72A is surrounded by commercial and residential colonies, while the Basai area has many residential complexes and societies.
Other stations in the special category include Sector 45, Cyber Park, Hero Honda Chowk, Udyog Vihar Phase 6, and sectors like 10, 37, 101, 9, 7, 5, 3, Palam Vihar Extension, Sector 23A, and Sector 22.
