Metro Station to Be Built on Theme of Guru Dronacharya and Pandavas’ Weapons.

Gurugram's Metro Stations to Reflect Pandavas' Legacy: A Unique Design Inspired by Guru Dronacharya

Guru Dronacharya educated the Pandavas. Therefore, the Old Gurugram Metro project, which is set to be constructed in Millennium City, should be designed in a unique way. A stadium being built in Kashi, UP, is themed around Lord Shiva’s damru (drum). Keeping Guru Dronacharya and his disciples in mind, a similar theme should be adopted for the Gurugram Metro. Depending on the availability of space, the metro gates or other features could be designed based on weapons like Arjuna’s bow and Bhima’s mace.

The Old Gurugram Metro project will feature 27 metro stations constructed based on the theme of Guru Dronacharya and the weapons of the Pandavas. This will provide passengers with insights into the history of Gurugram during their journey. The government’s argument is that the Gurugram Metro should stand out from other NCR cities and be tailored to the essence of Millennium City. Efforts are underway to explore the possibility of designing metro stations around different themes.

The selection of a French company as the Detailed Design Consultant (DDC) for the construction of the Cyber City metro line from the Millennium City Center Metro Station has been finalized. All formalities related to assigning the work to this company have been completed. This week, the company will be tasked with creating the design for the Gurugram Metro. The company is responsible for designing 27 stations and will conduct a survey to assess land availability for the metro station design.

According to the government, Gurugram is a historic city where Guru Dronacharya taught the Pandavas. Therefore, the Old Gurugram Metro project in Millennium City should be designed in a distinctive way. A stadium being constructed in Kashi, UP, is themed around Lord Shiva’s damru (drum). Similarly, the Gurugram Metro should adopt a theme that reflects Guru Dronacharya and his disciples. Depending on the availability of space, metro gates or other features could be constructed based on weapons like Arjuna’s bow and Bhima’s mace.

The DDC has not yet started work. However, if the DDC designs the metro stations with these considerations in mind, something unique can be achieved. According to the plan, the Detailed Design Consultant (DDC) will handle the civil architectural and E&M (electrical and mechanical) works for the elevated section comprising 27 stations (28.5 km). This will include the layout plan for all 27 elevated stations, as well as designs for foot over bridges, culverts, and other infrastructure.

The metro is set to be extended beyond the Millennium City Metro Station. The upcoming expansion will include several sectors and areas such as Sector-45, Cyber Park, Sector-47, Subhash Chowk, Sector-48, Sector-72A, Hero Honda Chowk, Industrial Vihar Phase 6, Sector-10, Sector-37, Basai Village, Sector-9, Sector-7, Sector-4, Sector-5, Ashok Vihar, Sector-3, Bajghera Road, Palam Vihar Extension, Palam Vihar, Sector-23A, Sector-22, Industrial Vihar Phase 4, Industrial Vihar Phase 5, and Cyber City to Dwarka Expressway (Sector 101). The metro will extend from the Millennium City Gurugram Metro Station (formerly known as the Old HUDA City Centre Metro Station)
