Haryana Government to Review Development Works of Gurugram Municipal Body

The Haryana Government has scheduled a meeting on January 29 in Chandigarh to review sanitation issues, development projects, and budget estimates for the next financial year for the Gurugram Municipal Corporation.

This review is being conducted in light of upcoming municipal elections and aims to ensure better civic amenities in Gurugram, which is often referred to as the Millennium City, and to address major urban challenges.

The meeting, chaired by Secretary of the Urban Local Bodies Department, Vikas Gupta, will focus on the annual budget estimates for the Municipal Corporation for the upcoming financial year.

Under Section 22 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, the state government will also assess the sanitation efforts of the municipal body under the Solid Waste Environmental Efficiency Program (SWEEP), implemented in June 2024.

Other agenda items for the meeting include streamlining and expanding door-to-door garbage collection services, progress on 100% updates of property identification certificates, resolving issues related to properties in “Lal Dora” areas, managing and rehabilitating stray animals to ensure public safety, development works in newly approved colonies, and focusing on the construction of roads, drainage systems, and other essential infrastructure.
