Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee Elections: Tajinderpal Singh Elected from Ward 39

Gurugram: In the elections held on Sunday for the post of member of the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee in Ward 39, which includes Gurugram and adjoining districts, Tajinderpal Singh was declared the winner.

He defeated his closest rival, Gagandeep Kaur, by a margin of 538 votes. Tajinderpal Singh secured 1,489 votes, while Gagandeep Kaur received 951 votes. 

For the election, six polling centers were set up in Gurugram, Rewari, Narnaul, Jhajjar, and Dadri. Ward 39 had a total of 4,447 registered voters, out of which 2,737 cast their votes, resulting in a voter turnout of 61.5%. 

The election featured three candidates for the member post: Tajinderpal Singh, Bibi Gagandeep Kaur, and Harpreet Singh. Tajinderpal Singh received 1,489 votes, Gagandeep Kaur 951 votes, and Harpreet Singh 289 votes. Additionally, 8 voters opted for the NOTA button.

The election for one of the 40 members of the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee across the state was conducted across six polling centers in Ward 39, which comprises Gurugram, Rewari, Narnaul, Charkhi Dadri, and Jhajjar.  

Voting in Gurugram  

At the two polling centers set up at the Government Girls College campus in Sector 14, Gurugram, a voter turnout of 50.25% was recorded. Out of 2,364 registered voters, 1,188 exercised their right to vote through EVMs.

The voting process started at 8 a.m. under the guidance of District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner Ajay Kumar. Trilokchand, Joint Chief Executive Officer of GMCBL, served as the Election Officer, while Naib Tehsildar Surender Bhardwaj acted as Assistant Election Officer.  

Peaceful Voting Environment  

In Gurugram, two polling booths (Booth 1 and Booth 1-A) were established for 2,364 voters. The district administration appointed Electricity Distribution Corporation SDO Satish Chandra and Panchayati Raj SDO Nishant Kumar as Duty Magistrates.

The voting process concluded peacefully, with voters patiently standing in queues waiting for their turn at both booths.
