Haryana Transport Minister Anil Vij conducted surprise inspections at the Gurugram Bus Stand and the office of the Superintendent Engineer of Haryana Power Transmission Corporation. His unannounced visit left officials visibly tense, fearing potential action for any shortcomings.
During his visit, Vij directed the Bus Stand GM, Pradeep Kumar Ahlawat, to improve cleanliness and expressed disappointment over the poor state of the facility. He assured residents of plans to construct a state-of-the-art Millennium Bus Terminal with modern amenities and announced the procurement of 750 new buses, along with an electronic fitness center for vehicle inspections.
The minister also revealed that 15 acres in Sector 36A have been allocated for the new bus terminal, and a detailed project report (DPR) is underway. He encouraged officials to propose additional passenger facilities if required.
Addressing a complaint about suspicious items on buses from Nuh, Vij instructed stricter baggage inspections and ordered action against encroachments outside the bus stand. He also directed food safety officers to collect samples of food sold at the premises, emphasizing the ban on unapproved items.
At the Superintendent Engineers office, Vij reviewed files, including a purchase document that raised concerns. He ordered an investigation into procurement processes and stressed the need for transparency through online systems. Additionally, he inspected attendance registers and interacted with employees to understand their work processes.
