Congress has faced a significant setback in Haryana. Senior Congress leader and National President of the OBC Cell, along with former minister Captain Ajay Singh Yadav, resigned from the primary membership of the Congress party on Thursday. He sent his resignation to the party’s National President, Mallikarjun Kharge, and shared this news on X.
Captain Yadav mentioned that resigning was a truly difficult decision, given his family’s 70-year association with the party. His father, the late Rao Abhay Singh, became an MLA in 1952, and he continued the family tradition. However, he expressed disillusionment with the party leadership due to the poor treatment he received after Sonia Gandhi.
Earlier this year, in February, reports emerged about former Finance and Irrigation Minister Captain Ajay Yadav’s dissatisfaction with the Congress party. He was upset over being overlooked within the Haryana Congress. Captain Yadav even refrained from applying to contest elections from the Gurugram Lok Sabha seat, stating that as a senior leader, he didn’t need to apply. He mentioned that if the party believed in his utility, they could nominate him to contest; otherwise, he would not put himself forward for consideration.
It is worth noting that the Congress party recently faced defeat in Haryana. Out of 90 seats, Congress managed to win only 37, while the BJP secured 48 seats, forming a majority government. Additionally, on Thursday (October 17), Naib Singh Saini took the oath of office as Chief Minister for the second consecutive time.
