The Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications said that this fair seems to be realising the Prime Minister’s vision of empowering women. He mentioned that experts have been invited to this fair to provide Self-Help Group (SHG) products with access to digital platforms like Amazon and Flipkart, and to assist in marketing, designing, packaging, and improving quality.
Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications, Dr. Chandrashekhar Pemmasani, stated that the “Lakhpati Didis,” who are successfully managing Self-Help Groups, will make a significant contribution to the country’s economic progress. The new initiative introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the “Lakhpati Didis” is a concrete step towards women empowerment.
After inaugurating the SARAS fair by lighting the ceremonial lamp at Gurugram’s Leisure Valley, Union Minister of State Dr. Chandrashekhar Pemmasani addressed the “Lakhpati Didis” from various states of India. He stated that when the women of our country become self-reliant, our villages will advance economically and socially. He added that the women participating in the SARAS fair in Gurugram clearly reflect their strong will to overcome poverty and showcase their creative potential.

He mentioned that experts have been invited to provide Self-Help Group (SHG) products with access to digital platforms like Amazon and Flipkart, as well as support in marketing, designing, packaging, and quality improvement. For this purpose, two special enclaves for knowledge and learning have been set up. Dr. Chandrashekhar Pemmasani stated that rural India is gradually transforming into global India.
The Secretary of the Ministry of Rural Development, Shailesh Kumar Singh, stated that under the National Rural Livelihood Mission, there are currently 9 million Self-Help Groups (SHGs), with over 100 million women associated with them. The SARAS fair offers a glimpse of India’s art and culture. He expressed gratitude to the Gurugram district administration, Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav, and Police Commissioner Vikas Arora for their support in organising the event.
On this occasion, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Rural Development, Charanjeet Singh, Joint Secretaries Swati Sharma and Smriti Sharan, “Lakhpati Didi” Sita Pradhan from Sikkim, and Afsana Ayat from Kashmir also shared their thoughts.
Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications, Dr. Chandrashekhar Pemmasani, visited the stalls at the SARAS fair. He made purchases and sampled various dishes from different states at the food court. Several officials, including CEO of the District Council Jag Niwas, Gurugram Postmaster General Akashdeep Chakravarty, Superintendent Sumit Kumar Ghat, and Satbir Singh, were present at the event.
